Where is it warm in April? From the US, Cancún is the safest beach bet: 89°F and only 1.5 in of rain, its driest month of the year. Miami (80°F), Punta Cana and the French Caribbean are still in good shape before rain picks up in May and hurricane season starts June 1. Farther away, central Vietnam and Bali enter their best season, while the Red Sea and Jordan are hot, dry and ideal for sightseeing.
April is also a turning point in Asia: Bangkok peaks at 95°F and the first pre-monsoon showers reach Phuket and the Maldives.

Mexico, Florida and the Caribbean: the end of the dry season
April is the last dependable month on this side of the Atlantic before rain increases in May and hurricane season begins on June 1. Spring break crowds have thinned after Easter, which fell on March 28 in 2027.
1. Mexico: Cancún and the Riviera Maya
Cancún: 89°F in the afternoon, 74°F at night, 1.5 in of rain over 4 days.
April is Cancún’s driest month and the safest long-haul beach pick on this page, with Maya sites and cenotes within driving distance.
Good to know: the heat is building, so visit Chichén Itzá at opening time. Sargassum seaweed can reach some beaches in certain years: check recent reports for your area before you book.
2. Florida: Miami and the Keys
Miami Beach: 80°F in the afternoon, 70°F at night, 2.7 in of rain over 6 days, sea around 77°F.
April is one of Miami’s best months: warm, still fairly dry and far less muggy than summer, when June rainfall jumps to 8.3 in. Combine the beach with the Everglades and a drive down to the Keys.
Good to know: hotel rates in Miami Beach usually ease after the March peak. The Keys are popular on weekends, so book Key West early.
3. Dominican Republic: Punta Cana
84°F in the afternoon, 73°F at night, 2.7 in of rain over 7 days, sea around 81°F.
Rain rises slightly in April but stays moderate, close to half of May’s 4.9 in. All-inclusive resorts make it easy to keep a family budget under control.
Good to know: Holy Week, in late March in 2027, is a major local holiday. In April, the beaches settle back into a calmer rhythm.
4. Martinique and Guadeloupe
Martinique (Le Lamentin): 85°F in the afternoon, 72°F at night, 3.8 in of rain over 12 days, sea around 82°F. Guadeloupe (Pointe-à-Pitre): 86°F, 71°F at night, 4.8 in, sea around 81°F.
The French islands offer quieter beaches, French food and markets, and rainforest hikes. Martinique stays a little drier than Guadeloupe in April, and the south of each island, around Sainte-Anne, is the driest.
Good to know: rain picks up in April, especially in Guadeloupe. Prices are in euros. As in Mexico, sargassum can affect some Atlantic-facing beaches in certain years.

Thailand, central Vietnam and Bali
In April, Asia splits between peak mainland heat and islands coming out of the rainy season. The right choice depends on the region.
5. Central Vietnam: Da Nang and Hoi An
Da Nang: 88°F in the afternoon, 75°F at night, 2.0 in of rain over 7 days.
Central Vietnam enters its best season: dry, warm without being extreme, and far from the October and November typhoons. My Khe beach in Da Nang and the old town of Hoi An are the classic pairing.
Good to know: the heat climbs quickly in May and June (92 to 95°F). April offers the best balance of beach, sightseeing and temperature.
6. Indonesia: Bali
Denpasar: 94°F in the afternoon, 77°F at night, 3.5 in of rain over 9 days.
Rain drops sharply in Bali in April: 9.2 in in March, 3.5 in in April. The rice terraces are still lush after the wet season and the summer crowds have not arrived yet.
Good to know: early April can still bring showers. The driest stretch runs from June to September, with 1 to 2 in a month.
7. Thailand: Bangkok and the Gulf islands
Bangkok: 95°F in the afternoon, 79°F at night, 2.6 in of rain over 4 days. Phuket: 93°F, 78°F at night, 5.4 in over 11 days, sea around 86°F.

Good to know: pre-monsoon showers reach the Andaman coast (Phuket, Krabi) in April. Gulf islands such as Koh Samui are usually less affected at this time of year.
Mauritius and the Maldives
Two islands with warm water moving in opposite directions: Mauritius is coming out of its rainy season, the Maldives are heading into theirs.
8. Mauritius
Port Louis: 87°F in the afternoon, 73°F at night, 3.4 in of rain over 7 days, sea around 81°F.
April marks the end of the southern summer. Rain has dropped sharply since February (6.3 in), the sea is still warm and the cyclone season is winding down.
Good to know: the west and northwest coasts, around Flic-en-Flac and Grand Baie, are the driest. The central plateau is cooler and wetter.

9. Maldives
Malé: 89°F in the afternoon, 80°F at night, 4.8 in of rain over 9 days, sea around 86°F.
April is a transition month: the sea reaches 86°F and most days are still sunny, but showers become more frequent ahead of the May monsoon (8.6 in). Rates start to come down after peak season.
Good to know: early April is safer than late April. Guesthouses on inhabited islands such as Maafushi remain the budget option.
Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Europe
The Red Sea and Jordan are hot and dry; Morocco, southern Spain, Cyprus and the Canaries are mild, around 73 to 78°F, with cool water. A good pick if you are combining sun with a trip to Europe.
10. Jordan: Petra and Aqaba
Aqaba: 87°F in the afternoon, 63°F at night, 0.1 in of rain, sea around 70°F. Amman: 73°F, 49°F at night, 0.6 in over 4 days.

11. Egypt: Hurghada
85°F in the afternoon, 65°F at night, no rain on average, sea around 73°F.
April is an excellent month for the Red Sea: hot but not extreme, with reefs reachable by snorkel from many hotels. For the temples, Luxor already reaches 96°F, so visit early in the morning.
Good to know: the coast is often windy, which keeps afternoons pleasant but can make the sea choppy. Sheltered bays are calmer for kids.
12. Morocco: Marrakech and Agadir
Marrakech: 78°F in the afternoon, 54°F at night, 1.0 in of rain over 5 days. Agadir: 74°F, 57°F at night, 0.6 in over 4 days, sea around 64°F.

13. Southern Spain: Seville
74°F in the afternoon, 52°F at night, 2.1 in of rain over 8 days.
April is one of the best months in Seville, well before the 95°F summer. In 2027 the Feria de Abril runs from April 13 to 18: casetas, horses and flamenco dresses take over the Los Remedios district.
Good to know: rates and demand soar during the Feria. Book early or aim for the week before or after. A few rainy days are still possible.

14. Cyprus
Larnaca: 73°F in the afternoon, 54°F at night, 0.6 in of rain over 6 days, sea around 64°F.
Cyprus is one of the sunniest islands in the Mediterranean, and in April the countryside is still green. A good month for the ancient sites of Paphos, the Troodos villages and hiking.
Good to know: Orthodox Easter falls on May 2, 2027. The week before is widely celebrated, with processions in every village.
15. Canary Islands, Spain
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: 73°F in the afternoon, 61°F at night, 0.2 in of rain over 3 days, sea around 66°F.
Almost dry in April, with the mildest nights in this section. The south of Gran Canaria and Tenerife is generally the sunniest.
Good to know: the Atlantic stays cool. With kids, pick a hotel with a heated pool.

What to keep in mind in April
- Seychelles: 89°F and 86°F water, but 7.3 in of rain over 16 days at Mahé. The driest period runs from June to August.
- Cambodia and southern Vietnam: April is the hottest month, 94 to 95°F in Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh City. Angkor becomes grueling: February is more comfortable.
- Southern California: sunny and mild, but the Pacific is only around 59°F off Los Angeles in April. Great for road trips, not for swimming.
- Madeira, Malta and Tunisia: 66 to 69°F in the afternoon. Pleasant for sightseeing and hiking, still too cool for the beach.
