March is the best month of the year for Egypt, Jordan and the Gulf: 26 to 30°C (79 to 86°F) in the afternoon, almost no rain, and temperatures that climb fast afterwards. In Asia the dry season is in its final weeks: Thailand, Cambodia and southern India reach 34 to 35°C (93 to 95°F), while the Philippines and the Maldives sit at 32°C (90°F) with a sea at 28 to 29°C (82 to 84°F). Nearer to Europe, Morocco and the Canary Islands stay mild, at 22 to 24°C (72 to 75°F).

One date shapes the month in 2027: Easter falls early, on March 28, so the last weekend of March will be far busier than the three weeks before it.

Asia: the last stretch of the dry season

What to keep in mind in March

• Bali: in Indonesia, March is still the rainy season. Denpasar receives 214 mm (8.4 in) over 13 days on average. The driest months there run from June to September.
• Mauritius and the Seychelles: 32°C (90°F) in Port Louis and 31°C (88°F) in Mahé, but March remains one of the two wettest months in Mauritius according to the Mauritius Meteorological Services, and Mahé gets 205 mm (8.1 in).
• Malta, Cyprus and Madeira: spring is bright but cool. Expect 17°C (63°F) in Malta, 20°C (68°F) in Larnaca and 20°C in Funchal. Good for walking and sightseeing, not yet for the beach.
• Heat in Asia: Bangkok, Siem Reap and Kochi average highs of 35°C (95°F). If you do not handle heat well, January or February suit these destinations better.
• A cool Red Sea: 21°C in Aqaba and 22°C in Hurghada. For water at 29°C you need Thailand, Sri Lanka or the Maldives.
