Canada: The Call of the Wild

Canada is an ode to untamed wilderness. It is a country where you might spot a black bear by the roadside, paddle alongside orcas, and watch the Northern Lights dance across the sky. But it is also a land of cosmopolitan and welcoming cities: dynamic Toronto, festive Montreal, and green Vancouver. From coast to coast, Canada offers a diversity of landscapes and cultures that leaves no one indifferent. It is the ideal destination for those dreaming of wide-open spaces without sacrificing modern comforts.

Our Experience

To see some of the most beautiful lakes in the world, wake up at dawn to admire Moraine Lake in the Rockies. The reflection of the mountains on the turquoise water at sunrise is an image you will never forget. Get there before 6 AM to secure a parking spot!

5 Reasons to Pack Your Bags

  • The Rockies: Banff and Jasper offer some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on the planet.
  • Wildlife: Seeing bears, moose, whales, and beavers in their natural habitat is simply magical.
  • Winter: Canada embraces the cold. Skate on the Rideau Canal, ski in Whistler, or go dog sledding in Quebec.
  • The Cities: From the history of Old Quebec to the skyscrapers of Toronto, every metropolis has a strong identity.
  • Autumn: Indian summer in Quebec and Ontario dresses the forests in flamboyant red and gold colors.

The Climate Puzzle

Canada is huge, so the weather varies enormously from coast to coast.

  • Summer (June to August): Peak season. Warm and sunny, ideal for camping and hiking. Many festivals.
  • Autumn (September to October): The season of colors. Mild temperatures and flamboyant landscapes, especially in Quebec and Ontario.
  • Winter (December to March): Intense cold but dry. Paradise for skiing, snowmobiling, and winter activities.
  • Spring: Muddy and variable, but it’s maple syrup season (“sugar time”) in Quebec!

Our Tip

To see polar bears in Churchill (Manitoba), the best time is October-November. It is the only place in the world where you can see them so easily.

Getting Around & Sleeping

Transport

Renting a car is ideal for freedom. Distances are huge, so flying is necessary to cross the country. The train (Via Rail) is comfortable but slow and expensive.

Accommodation

Camping (very organized in parks), B&Bs, hotels, or log cabins. Book very early for national parks in summer.

Local Eats & Specialties

Robust, multicultural, and generous cuisine, with excellent local products.

  • Poutine: Fries, cheese curds (“squeaky cheese”), and brown gravy. The ultimate Quebec comfort food.
  • Maple Syrup: On pancakes, in coffee, as candy… Canada’s liquid gold is everywhere.
  • Lobster & Seafood: A must in the Maritime provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick).
  • BeaverTails: A fried pastry shaped like a beaver tail, topped with sugar and cinnamon.
